Kore is the village (or kebele) where this coffee has been lovingly grown. Kore is located in the Kochere district of Ethiopia, and the village is around 25km from the town of Yirga Cheffe.
What do we mean by 'Ethiopian Heirloom Variety'? It is thought that between 6000 - 10000 varieties of coffee exist across Ethiopia, much of it growing wild within ongoing cross-pollination. Much of this genealogy is still mapped and documented and so we us the catch-all term of 'Ethiopian Heirloom'. This melting-pot variety is one of the reasons why today, Ethiopia - the home of coffee, still produces some of the most exciting and distinctive coffee in the world.
